How to add support for your statements

I require only a few details from your bank statement to add support for it. Follow these steps to provide me with these without giving up any personal information.

Step 1: Extract the text from your PDF statement

Process one of your statements using the button below.

This runs a client-side script (e.g., inside your browser) that extracts the text from your PDF statement and saves it to a text file. The text extracted is marked with the positional information I need to configure the Transtractor.

Step 2: Redact your personal information

Open the file in your favourite text editor and redact any personal information by replacing it with "XXXXX" or other placeholder characters. Common parts to redact include:

  • Your name
  • Your home address
  • Your account numbers
  • Your credit card numbers
  • Sensitive transaction descriptions

Step 3 (optional): Edit amounts

I would prefer any amounts (e.g., opening/closing balances, transaction amounts) are not modified, but if you want to do so, please make sure to keep the number format the same.

Step 4: Take a screenshot of your statement

Take a screenshot of your statement and redact personal information by blacking it out. I may require this to better understand the layout of your statement and see other information about your bank and account type that cannot be extracted (e.g., it is contained in an image).

Step 5: Email me the redacted text file and screenshot

Email me the redacted text file and the redacted screenshot of your statement to support@transtractor.net.

Step 6: Wait for me to do my stuff

This is where I use the information to add a configuration setting for your bank statement. This may take a few days depending on how busy I am. I will email you when I am done.

Step 7: Test the Transtractor with your actual statements

Once I have added support for your statement, I will need you to test it with your actual statements. If you experience any issues, please let me know and I will work with you to resolve them.

Step 8: Let me know how it goes

If your statement works well, please let me know so that I can list it as supported.
